Research institutes and universities in the field
have spread out helping to explain some curative phenomena involving rural
herbal remedies and have done great job on medicinal plant and have intensified
over the cast few years and recently these have been establishment of herbal
clinics in various places in Nigeria.
According to Heywood (1987) environment progresses
have been made in medicine and chemotherapy by the introduction of new plant
based drugs. These dugs are prepared from different parts of the plants roots,
barks, leaves, and floral pats which are believed to contain active ingredient.
The ingredients are the “Active principles” that effect the leading of
characteristics diseases.
According to Dakiel (1987). A large complication
of valuable plant of west Africa including their names, location, economic and
medicinal values is visible as medicinal science develop and becomes more
organized in the West African countries, the critical survey of the slathered
information available about drug plants found in Nigeria become imperative.
Furthermore, greater importance is now being
attached to the use of locally available medicines as a means of reducing
reliance on expensive imported drugs (Oliver Beer 1968 and 1986). The study

The medicinal plant which may be leaves, stems,
