VOCATIONAL EDUCATION SERVICES FOR MAJOR OCCUPATIONAL AREAS

Nigeria  as a developing national require that adequate engineering technicians and service arraying  or  artisan are produce  who can provide leadership in  respective chosen occupations to meet up with economic needs of the country (SOCIETY) 
Okoro (1993)  also described vocational education as any form of education whose primary purpose is to  prefer  persons for employment. Vocational institutions training should five them the requisite training for competence in specific occupations. Vocational education seal  aim is to provide them with necessary silks. Knowledge, values, and altitudes for effective employment in
specific  occupations and successful works in various fields. It assures that the choice of an occupation has been made and that appropriate training  is  needed to enable the individual enter  and advance in his or her chosen occupation. The central purpose of  vocational education is to get people into jobs requiring specialized all domain training  (cogntius affective and psychomotor)   .
Vocational education is  actually expensive because of the  required tooks, equipment and materials. These are  important part of the  training process needs,
0 in  order to avoid wastage of resources, candidates  or vocational education should be carefully selected to ensure tht they have the interst and aptitude to benefit from the trainding (see  prosser  1940 principles)  only those who are genuinely interested in entering the occupation should be considered for training .
expensive vocational education training of students who eventually are unable to  obt employment because the society does not  need the skills they possess, is wasteful and should be considered. The establishment of vocational education programme therefore should be based on needs, the need of the country, of the community along with the need of the individual citizens  
the six major occupational  areas of vocational education: are 
i.                    trade : industrial education viz elect/electronic tech , need
ii.                 business of office education
iii.               vocational agriculture of  agric education
iv.               home economics education
v.                   health occupation education or physical health (human kinetic education)
vi.               Distributive  education – marketing   |(handwork  )  courses in each of the above occupational areas  can be commenced and offered at  secondary, tech college  of post –secondary ie  tertiary level.
