Right to acquire and own immoveable
property any where in Nigeria is guaranteed by section 43 of the 1999
constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria. The section states that: every
citizen of Nigeria has the right to acquire and own immoveable property any
where in Nigeria. This means that every Nigerian citizen can own property in
any part of the country, not minding which part such person comes from.
For
instance, an Hausa man can lawfully acquire and own property in Ibo or Yoruba
lands both and vice versa, and anybody or authority that tries to stop him/ her
will be
violating his/her fundamental human rights. It is your right to own
property in Nigeria as long as you can acquire them lawfully.
