ABSTRACT
The
study examines “the total quality management (TQM) as a corporate strategy for
growth (A case study of kia motors manufacturing company in Lagos metropolis)”
Some firms aspire to be market leaders without considering their customers as
being vital to success. This has led to the collapse of erstwhile good
business. Due to this, the necessity for total quality management in
organizations was probed. In other to successfully achieve the purpose of this
study, the following objectives were set to examine the level of awareness of
total quality management(TQM) by management of kia motors. To find out the
extent of application of total quality management kia motors limited and to
ascertain challenges facing the application of the concept in kia motors. A
sample size of 121 employees of the organizations was served with questionnaire
to generate the data. The data elicited were analyzed using tables and simply
percentage. From the findings, it is obvious that the level of participation of
the employee in the planning process determine the work ability of TQM in kia
motors. Also it was discovered that the degree of commitment of staff is
proportional to the impact of TQM. Moreso, the success of TQM requires
consistent training, retaining and development of the workforce, and TQM has
been implemented on the employees and customers of kia motors to a large extent
to satisfy both customers and employees needs towards the achievement of the
organizational goal. In recommendation total quality management should be
handled with care since its primary aim is to satisfy customers and improve
service delivery. Also management should as a matter of fact, involve employees
in the planning process, so that employees participation and commitment will be
enhance and guaranteed.
