Did you know that Ebola Virus disease is the most search keyword in Nigeria in July and August 2014? So many website and blogs has written different articles on this dreaded disease. Most people has argued that the Virus is in their states while others has rejected the claims. Several medical professional (both local and international), professors and some concerned Nigerians has researched widely on this virus and has been able to say one thing or the other about the disease (Most of them assumptions). {Someone has even hosted a site with www.ebola.com just to get website traffic}.
The causes of this Ebola Virus disease (consumptions of infected bush meat especially bats) has been clearly written our in most website, it is being broadcasted in several TV news (NTA, Channels TV, CNN, BBC, Aljazera etc) and published on newspapers (Vanguard, The Sun, Punch, Guardian, etc) informing people about the causes, symptoms, preventions and treatment. Some people has said there is no cure for it while others has also argued that there a several ways of curing it using Bitter Kolanut and Pure honey. While scientist has given their own views which is isolating any infected persons from the environment and treated by approved medical professionals only. This is to prevent the spread of the virus to the people living in that environment.
The WHO, and the World in general has approved several funds in Naira and Dollar to help combat Ebola Virus in Several countries, states and local governments where the disease out break has been confirmed. This is to reduce its spread.
Nigerian Government for instance has imputed several millions of Naira to combact this disease by employing more efficient medical professional within and outside Nigeria. An official website for ebola virus information has been created and hosted to help pass information to Nigeria. Toll free numbers (i.e. numbers you can call without recharging your phone) has also been added to the website to enable Nigerians contact health professionals if the need arises for an emergency in any location within Nigeria.
We urge everyone to be at alert and report any Ebola Virus cases to the nearest hospital or call any of the Toll free numbers.
