OPERATIONAL DEFINITION OF SYSTEMS TO WASTE DISPOSAL

the word “Waste” has been used in different circumstances to mean refuse, excreta or sewage. Waste actually means all these words and include others. Waste is therefore described as substances produced in our daily activities which are unwanted and no longer useful to us. These substances must be handled and disposed off with care so that they do not constitute danger to public health (Federal Ministry of Housing and Environment Monograph services No. 20).

No the other hand what constitute waste and nuisance to one group may become raw material to other another group. System of municipal waste disposal has always been the responsibility of the local government authority executed singly or in combination of the following set ups (WAHEB 2001).
