CULTURE AND FARMING AGRO-FISH

Agro-fish culture integration is the combined farming of fish with one or more types of Agricultural practice in the same farm. For example the concurrent farming of fish, arable crops, and livestock in the same farm land.
ADVANTAGES OF AGRO-FISH CULTURE INTEGRATION ARE:
* Fecal wastes from livestock section of the farm can be used to fertilize the pond as well as crop section of the farm to increase yield.
* waste grains, stalks and greens from the crop section of the farm can be used to feed the livestock and fish to enhance their growth.

* The same water source is used by both the fiish pond and to irrigate the arable crop garden.
* The mud from pond bottom after (fish harvest) makes good fertilizer for crops.
* Trash fish generated after harvest are dried and milled and incorporated into fish and livestock feeds as fish meal.
* Bones from livestock after slaughter are also milled and incorporated into fish and livestock feeds as bone meal.
* Agro-fish culture integration guarantees economic security. This is because low yield in crops may not affect fish production. And if there is a disease outbreak and loss of animals in the livestock section, the farmer will not have total loss since he might still make profit from fish and crop production.
* Agro-fish culture is environmental-friendly because wastes generated are recycled for increased productivity without pollutin the environment.
* It reduces cost of production, thereby enhancing profit.
