GEOLOGY AND LITHO DESCRIPTION OF DIFFERENT ROCKS IN NASSARAWA STATE

This location is located along Akwanga – Lafia road a few kilometers away from Eggon-police station and behind Albocky filling station. The location composes of magmatic gneiss with a syncline fold, granite gneiss. The grain size is medium to coarse grain and they made up of dark light coloured minerals, i.e felsic minerals such as

quartz, feldspar and biotite. Also within the location are quartz vein of variable thickness, which is about 1.2 – 3.0cm.

        The rock units are also foliated and the following are trends of the outcrops.

First bed:

        Strike               N116^o – N296^o

        Dip amount     40^o

Dip Direction           114 SE

Second bed:

Strike                       N24 – N204

Dip direction            116 SE

Dip amount             43⁰

Third bed:

Strike                       N113 – N293

Dip direction            230 NW

Dip amount             46⁰
