About the Nigeria Port Authority

Nigerian Ports Authority is wholly owned by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Transport. It has the responsibility of providing specific seaport and harbour services for the country’s Maritime industry. The statutory functions of the Authority are as follows:

  1. Provision and operation of cargo handling and quay facilities
  2. Pilotage and sewage services
  3. Supply of water and fuel to vessels at anchorage or mooring buoys
  4. Repair and maintenance of vessels
  5. Dredging and contact dredging of water ways

NPA Recruitment Requirements and Procedures

Prospective candidates who wish to seek employment in the Organisation must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Must be a Nigerian or have the necessary work permits, if not a Nigerian citizen.

To become a member of NPA Family, a potential employee will have to go through the following procedure:

  1. Submit their resumes  via the online form
  2. Must attend aptitude test
  3. Must present original credentials at the interview

Student Industrial Training and Internship Program (SIWES)

Nigerian Ports Authority offers Nigerian students in Higher Institutions the opportunity to gain work experience in different locations. The program provides hands-on work experience from day one, providing students the opportunity to work directly with inspiring and experienced professionals. The insights and skills gained by the end of the program would be invaluable for future careers.

This Industrial Training Program is designed for students to:-

  1. Put theories and concepts into practice
  2. Begin to build work related skills required for the business environment through constructive feedback and supervision
  3. Improve general business/industry understanding
  4. Gain additional skills in areas such as communication, team building, problem solving and analytical reasoning

Eligible applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled in a Higher education Institution
  2. Have authorisation letter from their school  to participate in the program
