This is a comprehensive
list of all the Federal Universities, State Universities and Private
Universities / Institutions in Nigeria approved by the National Universities Commission
(NUC) from the year 1948 till 2016. This complied list is to assist Nigerian
students, lecturers, researchers, parents and guardians in different parts of the
country “Nigeria” to have first-hand information about the institution they
intend to apply for in Nigeria. This list is approved by the NUC. Click the

According to a
publication from the office of the Executive Secretary of the national
Universities Commission, the above listed federal, state and private universities
has been approved. The list of illegal universities has been disapproved and
closed down by the National Universities Commission (NUC) because they did not
passed the accreditation exercise carried out on them and also because they
have operated their campuses and/or courses without permission from the NUC.
The general public is
thereby informed to be cautious of the institutions they apply for so that they
wouldn’t risk the chance of studying a course in a disapproved university or
illegal institution.
