ABSTRACT
This research
is an investigation of “the impact of radio programmes and parental attitude on
the girl-child education”. The study area is Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State.
This research examines the concept of, and crucial issues in girl-child
education. It Identifies socio-cultural patterns, religious misconceptions,
poverty, teenage pregnancy and early marriage among others as factors militating
against the girl-child education. It also evaluate the impact of radio
programmes on the development of girl-child education.
In order to determines
these objectives, random sampling was done using questionnaire, and chi-square
was used to test the hypothesis. The findings shows that people are not aware
of the radio programmes that enlighten girls and women on the need to improve
their education as shown in table 4.2:12,3, and 5 and also in table 4:2.10 it
shows that the financial background of parent affect girl-child education. This
work outlines the role the parents and radio programmes should play in order to
improve girl-child enrollment in school.
