MATTERS
ARISING
UMUAHIA
CONVENTION
COMRADE (NAME
HERE) the
south east EHOAN president in his remarks decried what he witnessed at the
convention according to him the entire convention was virtually dominated by
Non-Igbo states even where the convention was being held in the south East.
This position was confirmed by the host president comrade (NAME HERE) who decried the paucity of attendance by the South East
chapters not minding that we had very important issues beneficial to the zone
for discuss. The president summed it as being shameful and warned members to please
attend meetings so as not to be marginalized by the national body. He
referenced the Umuahia convention where the south east were totally
marginalized right from its planning to implementation stages and called on the members to increase
their efforts in securing future for the profession.
2. NATIONAL DEPUTY PRESIDENT
The president informed the house that he was invited
by the NEC to attend the conference on Lasar-fever at Abuja. It was during this meeting that he was
requested to accept the office of the national Deputy president which shall be
rectified by 2013 and according to him it implies that the office of the South
East president shall be vacant and secondly that the acceptance of this offer
may also likely distort the ambition of the South East to run for the office of
the national president. He called on members interested in the offices to
indicate because according to him some people have been indicating their
interests. Comrade (NAME HERE) in
his contribution pleaded with the house that we should grab the office and
still go for the national president. Comrade (NAME HERE) the EHOAN secretary of Imo chapter enquired if the
zoning system in the NEC still stands. In his reply the president stated that
elections are won through voting and that we should note that the South East. (NAME HERE) is the least Zone in terms
of population because of the number of states. According to him we have low
capacity to win election but would rather work in alliance with other Zones to
secure the presidents office when zoned to the south. Comrade (NAME HERE) rich man begged to differ
from the president’s submission because according to him the South West is
already working hard and like wise the South South to capture the office of the
national president and called the S.E. members to mobilize adequately for the
NEC meeting and when we get to the bridge we shall know how to cross-it.
