THE NEED FOR IMPROVING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

First and for most I remain most profound ably gratefully for all the good work being done in different Local Government and it is the trust that our people have on they that make them to vote a good Chairman of a Local Government Area, Knowing full well that they are going to bring about positive Changes in our local Government.

The Need for Improving Agricultural Production in different LGA is of  great importance, Since different LGA in Nigeria and Africa in general are known for their great effort in  farming of different verities  of Crops Like Rice, Yam, Cassava, Livestock management, Palm-Oil Etc. but this Cultivars have a very big problem facing them.

For Example Problems of improving the varieties of Crops that bring about high Yields, Storage System. Mechanizes Method of Farming, high Cost of Fertilizers, lack of good transport Network etc.

The problem of improving the varieties of crops farmers plant in different local Government is of importance since so many of Farmers are not Educated but they are into Farming System, there is a need to educate them on how to improve the verities of crops they cultivate or alternatively importing an improved verities which will bring about high yield, of high quality  product value and of high economic value .

Secondly the need for mechanized farming is of great important in our Local Government, many of our farmers engaged in substance farming because of the lack manpower; lack of machine has made Nigerians/Africans to decline in high production of crops, for instance I could remember when several men in different villages (I visited  when we were  teaching farmers some basics on mechanized faming) can manage to cultivate a hectare of land, when they are still strong they can handle hoe by themselves alongside other laborers and sometimes their children which  can cultivate a very big land at the end of each farming season since it is season by season because of lack of irrigation and make a very high yield, which make the people of their communities to call them different farming titles (like: great farm) but they eventually get older and become weak and can no longer handle their hoe and cutlasses and they cannot continue their farming; even the laborers are no more willing do such hard labour the production drastically reduce.

I therefore beg for the provision of mechanized farming on different Local Government Areas in Nigeria/Africa.

How great could it be if such people like those local farmers villagers then was introduced to mechanized method of farming, by now they would be among the greatest in Nigeria/Africa which would be of great economic importance and source of employment to people.

Should I talk of the havocs the so called bad road have caused to the cultivation of different Local Government Areas? Lack of easy transport has made so many food products to perish in these villages.

Can we talk about what high cost of fertilizers in these Local Government Areas? I could remember the year when a village woman (a mother of 12 children) planted up to four (4) bags of rice as the high cost of fertilizers was very high that she could not afford it; lost nearly everything.

Should we talk about the great economical value it will be if local harvests (products) is modernized? Abakaliki rice for instance, some parts of Nigeria has local and foreign rice; what makes its Abakaliki (local) rice, is because it is not polished. If such provision is made I think they will be producing that same so called Foreign rice (being bought internationally) here in these Local Government Areas which will be of economical value and great job opportunity to people.

If we continue to discuss the needs and problems this issue has caused in several Local Government Areas, it will be of great disappointment, but since this issue can be solved, I think different LGA chairmen, State Governors and Presidents of African Countries, can do something about this issue, and all local farmers will be grateful.

I therefore urge everyone to look into this issue and provide solutions.

God bless Nigeria and Africa in general.
