A journalist can now locate information on various areas of interest on the
internet.
Also, internet publishing is a new
technology that has actually simplified the opportunity to view newspapers on
computer screens in full colour pictures and if desired, print them out.
Desktop publishing is a new
technology which had very much facilitated the production of newspapers and
magazines without much stress.
Career prospects in news-papering
are:
v Editing,
v Reporting,
v Cartooning,
v Graphic communication,
v Proof reading.
However, in Nigeria, these technologies are yet to be
fully adopted, obvious reasons are:
§ Non–availability of the new technology of the new
technologies in the information and other sectors.
§ Only few can manipulate these new technologies.
§ Lack of interest by the government, some journalist
and individuals because of ignorance.
§ Poor power supply to energize t he technologies where they exist.
