SECTION 1: NAME
The
name of the association shall be known, called and addressed as (name of
organization) Elders Forum.
SECTION 2: MOTTO
The
motto of this association shall be love strength.
SECTION 3: SLOGAN/SYMBOL
The
slogan of this association shall be (slogan) (2 times) and thirdly (slogan).
The Symbol shall be a tiger.
SECTION 4: AIMS AND OBJECTIVE
(a)
To protect and
defend the dignity of (name of organization)
(b)
To lend a helping
hand to one another especially in time of need.
(c)
To establish
effective group communication within the village and outside so as to protect
the rights, liberties, privileges, obligations of (name of organization) as a
corporate entity
SECTION 5
(a)
Membership shall
be open only to (name of organization) indigenes who has attended a position of
honour who must be 40 years and above and must be married
(b)
Socio-economic
factor shall not be a barrier for one being a member.
(c)
Membership is
purely on personal merit and should not be based on geographical factor/spread
or unit.
(d)
Without prejudice
to the above qualification an intending member shall be required to undergo a
thorough screening.
SECTION 6: FINANCE/ REGISTRATION.
a. Any
intending member into this association shall register with (amount) and Two gallons of palm wine.
b. Monthly
Dues/Registration.
There shall
be a monthly dues of (amount) and
a monthly contribution at least (amount) that shall be shared at the end of
every year among the members.
7A: FINANCIAL SECRETARY
(i)
He shall make the
roll call during general meeting and collect all the contributions/dues
(ii)
He shall handover
same to the treasurer who signs his financial book for collection.
(iii)
He shall raise a
voucher for any expenses to be made by the forum.
(iv)
He shall present
an annual financial report during the end of financial year

(i) He shall be the image maker of the forum
(ii) He shall pass every information to members through the
directive of the secretary/chairman
(iii)
He shall maintain
peace and tranquility in meetings
(iv)
He shall take
record of the comers and noise makers and collect the prescribed
SECTION 8: TENURE/MODE OF ELECTION
(i)
The tenure for
every elected officer shall be a period of (NUMBER) years. In which thereafter
a two or three man adhoc committee
shall be appointed to conduct a fresh election.
(ii)
Voting into any
office shall be by mere raising hands.
SECTION 9: MEETING
(i)
There shall be a
general meeting of this forum every first Sunday of every month by (time)
(ii)
There shall be an
emergency meeting whenever the need arises.
(iii)
The venue of our
meetings shall be rotational as may be deemed necessary by the general body in
the last general meeting.
SECTION 10: QUORUM
Half of the members shall form a
quorum in every general meeting. In the absence of the chairman, the house
shall select any other member present to preside over the meeting on that day.
The house shall also select any member present to perform the duties of any
officer who is absence in any meeting.
SECTION 11: WELFARE
Welfare
to members shall be considered under the following headings:
(a) Naming
ceremony/ child dedication
(b) Marriages
(c) Death
SECTION 11A: NAMING CEREMONY/CHILD
DEDICATION
If any member invites this association for child
dedication or naming ceremony, this forum shall present a purse of N5000.00 (Five
thousand naira) to such member.
11B MARRIAGES TWO GALLONS OF PALM WINE
FOR THE INVITATION
Such invitation must be given to
this forum at lest a month before such wedding. This forum shall present a cash
gift of (amount) only.
SECTION 11C: DEATH OF A MEMBER
(i)
It is mandatory
that all members must be in attendance of such burial.
Failure to attend such burial or vigil attracts a fine of (amount).
(ii)
On that day of
the burial this forum shall present the following items 2 gallons of palm wine,
2 fattons, a cap and cash of ten thousand naira (amount) to the bereaved
family.
(iii) A
day shall be set aside by this forum as to pay condolence visit to the
bereaved family in which this forum shall present to the next of kin (amount) in cash and four gallons of palm
wine. Also 21 gunshots should also be observed on that day.
(iii)
A compulsory levy
of (amount) shall be paid by all members if such death of a member occurs
SECTION 11D: DEATH OF A FATHER, MOTHER
OR WIFE:
In case of any such death, this forum shall present 2
gallons of palm wine, 2 fattons, (amount in cash) and a cap to the bereaved
member/family on the day of such burial, if invited. In case of wife no
invitation is need.
Divulging of secret: Anybody proved divulging the official secret of the
meeting shall pay a fine of (amount).
AMENDMENT
This
constitution shall be amended from time to time as the need arises. Such
amendment shall be made by 2/3 majority of members presents in a well constituted
general meeting.
