This study will not be meaningful if a comprehensive
insight into existing literature is not done. Attempts will be made on a critique
of definitions and postulations, while employing them in the process of
analyzing the variables involved and a possible comparison of the relationship
between the independent and dependent variables.
In order to achieve this, literature
review will be considered under the following sub-heading:-

prostitution.

History of
prostitution

Prostitution (a deviant behavior and a social
problem).
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
To arrive at a reliable theoretical framework, the
question is why does deviance occur in North asking. To get an answer to this,
involves the use of sociological theories. More so, theories to explicate the
relationship between deviance and the environment in which it occurs will be
necessary.
Haralambos theories of deviance see some individuals
to be more inclined to deviance than other because of genetic make-up giving
cesare lombrose as key contributor.
Psychological theories of deviance
share closeness with the psychological theories, the main tenet of these
theories lies in the claim that deviant beahviour is learnt. These theories were
exposed to criticism on one premises or the other, although some aspect of
their claims are adopted by some aspect of their claims are adopted by some
sociologist. But for a sociological explanation functionalist view will be
employed.
