POVERTY ALIVIATION: RELEVANCE OF TVE


Like unemployment, poverty is ravaging the society. It has vastly been documented that more than about 80 percent Nigeria’s live on less than one dollar per day. Therefore with invigoration of TVE, there should be some form of school – work- based learning incorporated vocation programme in integrated in Nigeria schools to create self employment through skills which would enhance productivity and national development via poverty reduction and
aliviation. The method emphasized by government to reduce poverty is ineffective due to lack of skills training facility. Giving money to the poor who cannot manage their own lives to set up small business is like pouring water in a bucket with holes. The adage of teaching some body how to catch fish instead of giving him fish tells it all. Train some one in vocation of his and create employment and unimaginable technical vocational education is the main obstacles to poverty reduction in Nigeria
