It is very important to look into some sections for 1999
constitution of (NIG) this will help background our minds on why EFCC
& ICPC emanated or assumed
operation in Nigeria. These sections include
Section 14
Section
16
Section
21
Section
23
MEANING OF EFCC & ICPC
EFCC: Economic and
financial crimes commission
ICPC: Independent
corrupt practices commission
According to section 14 (2) (b)
and (c) here the constitution maintained that the security and welfare of
the people shall be the primary purpose of government, and the participation by
the people in there government shall be ensured in accordance with the
provisions of this constitution. To
infer meaning from the above sections of the 1999 constitution. No where the constitution maintained that there will be looting
of public funds
by the public officials which is
common everywhere in section 16
sub(1)(a) and (b) of the
1999 constitution, also says that the ideals and objectives for which provisions are made in this
constitution is to harness
the resources of the nation and promote national prosperity and an efficient, a dynamic and
self –reliant economy every citizen on
the basis of social justice and equality of status and opportunity, control the national economy is
such manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and
happiness of every citizen on the basis
of social justice and equality of status and opportunity . but today we have
some bad leaders every where in our different states who only mind their personal interest
and forget those who put him there.
Our
1999 constitution in her greatest view of good governance in Nigeria
captured section (21) and (22) of
1999 constitution which
states that the state shall.
a.
Protects,
preserve and promote the Nigerian cultures which enhance human dignity and are
consistent with the fundamental objectives as provided in this chapter, and
b.
Encourage
development of technologies and scientific studies which enhance cultural
value. But all these are for nothing since our people don’t value our culture
an other things but to emback on many laundering to develop another foreign
countries instead of developing ours, too bad.
c.
It is because of
the above problem in Nigeria that necessitated the establishment of ICPC
and EFCC to check or to scrutinize the criminals especially the public
office holders who saw embezzlement as a
culture of the day in Nigeria. All this is attributed more in some of our
politicians because, EFCC AND ICPC work has severally manifested in many
of our political like the formal governor of Bayesa, Enugu and also the FORMAL speaker of national house of assembly, Bankole
