INADEQUATE INFRASTRUCTURAL FACILITIES IN PUBLIC EDUCATION

This is another major problem facing the running of public education in Kaduna North Local. According to Oken (1985:16), infrastructural facilities are referred to as classrooms, laboratories, equipment, libraries, and workshops offices and so on. In addition, there are instructional materials like radio, television, videotape, filmstrip and printed materials. He noted that for an effective running of public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area in Kaduna state of Nigeria, the infrastructural facilities must be adequately provided.

The aims of school infrastructural facilities are meant for effective teaching and learning. They are teachers’ trade tools and institution where they lack infrastructural facilities, teaching and learning becomes ineffective and undoubtfully cannot achieve its main objectives. Every school needs wide range of educational equipment facilities and all these should not only be of good quality but they should be enough and available at all time in order that teaching and learning will be effective (Ozizi 1977:71).

As Omoniyi (1980:12) pointed out, lack of facilities will also hinder the effective teaching and learning process which equally makes it difficult for the running of public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area in Kaduna state of Nigeria.
Speaking of the importance of public education, falodun (1985:4) stated that for the smooth running of public education to be effectively achieved, necessary equipment have to be provided.
