Edal (1982:23) defined technical education (vocational
courses ) as that aspect of education which lead to the acquisition of applied
skill as well as basis scientific knowledge.
Recognizing the development of vocational
courses, Edgal suggested that a greater proportion of the national income should
be allocated for technical education by the government at the federal, state
and zonal levels.
This will improve the running of public
education in Kaduna North Local Government Area in
Kaduna state of Nigeria when
the national policy on education which is recognized as the e6-3-3-4 programme
when it has fully taken off.
The federal Government national policy on
education (1981) listed the advantages of technical education as follows:-
1. To
improve trained manpower in applied science, technology and commerce.
2. To
provide the technical knowledge and vocational skills necessary for
industrialized commercial economic development and agriculture.
