First of all, NECO Result 2017 is Out. Furthermore, today's news has it that the National Examination Council has announced the release of the 2017 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination results online.
As a matter of fact, according to breaking news in Nigeria today, is was reported that the Registrar of the council, Uwakwe Charles, a popar professor, announced the results in Minna Niger state on Thursday 14th September 2017.
Also, according to the announcement, Mr. Charles Uwakwe said that over one million (exactly 1,055,988) candidates/students registered for the examination, among whom 1,051,472 wrote the tests in seventy six (76) subjects including Mathematics and English Language.
However, he went forward and said that about 745,053 candidates, representing 70.85 per cent had successfully passed with five (5) credits and above, including English Language and mathematics, in the released Neco examination.
On the other hand, Mr. Charles Uwakwe added that the student performance represented about 1.11 per cent improvement in candidates’ performance compared with the 2016 results and its expected to grow in NECO Result 2018/2019.
In a like manner, Prof. Charles said that about 947,850 candidates had five credits and above irrespective of English Language and mathematics, adding that the figure represented 1.63 per cent improvement of the 2016/2017 result.
In the light of this, he also added that over 903,690 candidates had credit in English Language, while 849,335 candidates had credit in General Mathematics which is a compulsory subject to gain admission into any university, polytechnic or college of education.
Going forward, Prof. Charles U. explained that about 50,586 candidates, representing 4.81 per cent of candidates, were involved in examination malpractice with has lead to their NECO Result being withheld 2017/2018.
As can be seen from the data above, Mr. C. Uwakwe said that generally speaking, the figure represented 0.52 per cent increase in cases of malpractice compared to the 2016 record.
In summary, Mr. Uwakwe finally said that 276 schools were involved in mass cheating in 34 states, while six schools were de-recognised for examination malpractice.
In conclusion, Mr. Uwakwe explained that 23 supervisors who aided malpractice one way or another were blacklisted in the Neco examiners.
