ADVERSE EFFECTS OF CARBAPENEMS

These are synthetic Beta-lactam anti biotic with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activities that differ from the penicillin in that sulfur atom of the thiasolidine ring has been externalised and replaced by a carbon atom. Imipenem is the only drug of this ground currently available.

Adverse effect
Impenem/cilastatin can cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, eosinophilia and neutropenia are less common. High level of this agent may provote seizures.
