2017 Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) Interview holds from November 30 - The Lagos State Scholarship Board wishes to inform students of Lagos State indigenes that applied for the 2017 Commonwealth Scholarships and Fellowship Plan (CSFP), and fulfilled all necessary requirements stipulated in the 2017 CSFP Prospectus that Nomination Interview will hold from Wednesday 30th November – Saturday 3rd December, 2016.

Important Information For Applicants

MODALITIES FOR THE DISBURSEMENT OF BURSARY AWARDS:
  1. The applicant must have gained full time admission into a tertiary Institution.
  2. The applicant must be a bonafide indigene of Lagos State (by paternity).
  • The applicant must purchase a Bursary application form. (Payment of N1, 000.00 for Bursary & N2, 000.00 for Law School Students) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Alausa Secretariat
  1. Must attend Bursary award interview conducted by the Board & be screened by Panel Members who are Retired Seasoned Administrators, Permanent Secretaries /Directors and Traditional Rulers from the five divisions of Lagos State.
  2. They must present documents to ascertain the genuineness of their claims like:
    1. Admission Letters.
    2. School Identity Cards.
    3. Letters from Oba & Letter from Local Government.
    4. All other relevant documents.
  3. If successful, must purchase a brochure at the cost of N1, 000.00 (One thousand naira) for Bursary & N2,000.00 (Two thousand naira) for Law School and Maritime Academy Students, Oron.
  • Further screening at the Board to ensure that all required documents have been provided by the successful applicants and files opened for them.
  • Files are sent to the Account Section for the processing of payment
  1. Account sections scrutinize each file to ensure genuineness of documents attached.
  2. Names of successful applicants are sent to the bank for the production of ATM Cards.
  3. Applicants sign all necessary documents in the accounts section and collect their ATM Cards.

CONSTITUTION OF PANEL MEMBERS:

Panel Members are drawn from the five (5) divisions of Lagos State; Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos and Epe (IBILE). The Panel Members are made up of retired seasoned Administrators, Permanent Secretaries /Directors and Traditional Rulers from the State.
They are invited twice a year for Bursary and Scholarship interviews. However, nomination of Panel Members is at the discretion of the Special Adviser on Education.

THE MODALITIES FOR THE DISBURSEMENT OF LOCAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS:
  1. The applicant must have gained full time admission into tertiary Institution.
  2. The applicant must be a bonafide indigene of Lagos State through paternity.
  • Must have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 and above for undergraduate and 2.1 (second class upper) for postgraduate.
  1. Must purchase a Scholarship application form (Payment of Two Thousand (N2, 000.00) only for Local Scholarship) through the Office of Special Adviser on Education, Alausa, the Secretariat, Ikeja.
  2. Must attend written and oral test organised by the Board.
  3. Must present the following documents to ascertain the genuineness of their claims:
    1. Admission Letters.
    2. School Identity Cards.
    3. Letters from Oba & Letter from Local Government.
    4. All other relevant documents.
  • If successful must purchase a brochure at the cost of N2,000.00 (Two thousand naira).
  • Further screening at the Board to ensure that all required documents have been provided by the successful applicants and files opened for them.
  1. Award letters are issued by the Board Secretary for successful awardees.
  2. Files are sent to the Account Section for the processing of payment
  3. Account sections scrutinize each file to ensure genuineness of documents attached.
  • Names of successful applicants are sent to the bank for the production of ATM Cards for Local Scholarship.
  • Applicants sign all necessary documents in the Accounts section and collect their ATM Cards for their award.

THE LAGOS STATE SCHOLARSHIP BOARD

MISSION STATEMENT
Ultimate Provision of educational assistance to the needy for the development of Lagos State is our Priority.
The Lagos State Scholarship Board is the State Government’s organ established in February 1968 shortly after the creation of the State to be in charge of Bursary, Scholarship and other educational related matters.

FUNCTIONS
  • Serves as advisory body and policy formulation organ on all scholarship matters (both local and foreign) of the State Government.
  • In charge of administration and award of scholarships.
  • In charge of administration of Bursary Award to all deserving indigenes of the State, running full time courses in Tertiary Institutions within the country
  • Liaises between the Federal and Lagos State Government on Scholarship related matters. Such as the Nigeria awards
  • Assists in coordinating different Scholarship Awards of the Federal Government to the citizens of the state e.g. Commonwealth and Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA).

NUMBER OF DEPARTMENTS
The Board is under the Office of the Special Adviser on Education and it comprises the following nine (9) Units:
  1. Board Secretary
  2. Bursary
  3. Foreign Scholarship
  4. Local Scholarship
  5. Administration/Personnel
  6. Accounts
  7. Press & Public Relations
  8. Planning, Statistics & Budget
  9. Procurement

SELECTION OF AWARDEES
All categories of awards (bursary or Local Scholarship awards) are given based on the recommendation of Panel members appointed from the five Divisions of the State which are Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe (IBILE). The panel members are made up of retired seasoned administrators, traditional leaders and opinion leaders in the various divisions.

Disclaimer on purported partnership between the State Scholarship Board and an organization to grant foreign scholarship for interested Nigerian students

The attention of the Secretary to the Lagos State Scholarship Board has been drawn to a purported partnership between the State Scholarship Board and an organization to grant foreign scholarship for interested Nigerian students.

The Lagos State Scholarship Board, as a Government body is solely established for Lagos State indigenes only and scholarship for beneficiaries is free, at no cost whatsoever. Moreover, foreign scholarship for Lagos State indigenes has been proscribed till further notice.

In view of this, the Board hereby dissociates itself from any partnership with any Organisation (non-governmental or otherwise) and advertorial as it does not emanate from the Board.

Members of the public are advised to disregard the advertorial and not to pay any money to anybody, group of persons or Organisation.
