Field survey 2011.
Question;
which is represented in the tables above is to reduce possible bias by trying
to find out the work men perform at the quarry mine sites in the three
senatorial zones of Ebonyi state. The outlay
of the summary indicates that a multiple
optional response question was asked and out of the 1255 respondents ,1251
respondents’ questionnaires were properly filled, with 4 missing which show
that 99.7 percent of the respondents were recorded and .3 percent not filled. The adjoining distribution table for the work
men perform at the quarry mine sites of
Ebonyi State, comprising three senatorial zones, contains the frequency
distribution of the respondents. The table show that a multiple response rate
of 4734 was recorded on the works men perform including type options; digging, blasting, clearing,
loading, breaking and packaging. The figure show that men mostly get involved
in digging, with 1223 multiple response representing 25.8percent out of the
4734 responses. This is followed by blasting with, 1103 in the table representing
the second highest work men perform with a 23.3 percent response rate. The
third work men perform from the analysis is breaking with 981 responses, which
is 20.7 percent of the entire response rate followed in that order by loading
with 561 responses representing 11.9 percent on the percentage score. The other
work options include packaging with 535 of 11.3 percent and clearing with 331
of 7 percent response rate.
The
response in the table addressing
question number 14 in the item could be viewed and compared with the previous
table which addressed the summary and frequency of the work women perform. The
counter analysis clearly show that while
men received 1223, representing 25.8 percent of 4734 responses, on digging, women
got 351, representing 7.7 percent of 4616 showing that a greater number of men
are involved in digging with a minimal number of women performing the job of
digging. When the second item in the table is counter assessed, the discovery
is that in blasting with 1103 responses,
men are involved heavily in
blasting and the previous table created for women on a related question
indicates that women got 325 in blasting showing that fewer number do blasting
at the quarry mine sites.
The highest job women perform is loading, with
1206 while men received in loading 561 number indicating that not minding that
men perform this job, a greater number of women are involved in this specific
job activity. In packaging also, women are seen to be in greater number than
men with 1124 compared to 535 for men.
