AN ADDRESS PRESENTED BY THE ENTIRE
MEMBERS OF SAINT CECILIA BLOCK ROSARY CENTRE ON THE OCCASION MARKING THEIR
INAUGURATION/FIRST ANNIVERSARY
Protocols:
The
vicar general Rt. Rev, Msgn. Patrick Mary Anene Mmuo, the chaplain Rev. Fr. Kenneth Nomeh, our honourable chairman, special
guests of honour, all invited guests, friends, well-wishers, my fellow Block
Rosarians, patrons and patronesses to our new centre, distinguished ladies and
gentlemen
It
is with a profound gratitude to God that I on behalf of the entire members of
the new centre present before you this address. Fellow Marians of the Rosary
and my dear people of God, with immense gratitude to God almighty for bringing
us together to this abode of holiness, I most sincerely and joyfully welcome
you to this occasion.
This
inauguration/anniversary has really caught my fancy and predisposed me to
inscribe this address of welcome. Our honour to Mary is not in any means of
human initiative but a divine instrumentality. God specially chose her to be
our mother, so, we are simply following God’s footstep. Breather in JOHN
9:26-27 Christ entrusted his mother, Mary to the church to take care of her to
love her and honour her. Honouring Mary is an appreciation of God’s perfect
work. This is because according to St. Thomas Aquinas “to give honour to the saint who
has excelled in loving union with God is to honour the object of his Holy
Communion too” God himself.
Through
the reparation of the three seer’s of Fatima, Lucy, Francisco and Jacinta by
the angel of peace and it was established in 1917.
My
fellow Marian devotee, our rosary, a beautifully combination of vocal and
mediation prayer that centres upon the greatest gospel mysteries in the life of
Jesus Christ and derivatively the life of the mother of God that serves to
corporate both body and soul into spiritual communion with our Lord. Our gospel
prayers is still the compendium of the entire gospel in which we prayerfully
meditate upon the salvation journey for us by Christ in the incarnation, the
ministry, the redemption and eternal life. It is our daily neighborhood prayer
for peace and salvation our mother says “you
must recite the rosary everyday to obtain peace for the whole world and the end
of war for only she can obtain this” (more about Fatima).
BRIEF ON THE CENTRE:
The
centre was established on the 15th Feb. 2010 under our distinguished
patron in the person of Hon. Barr. Timothy Odaah who diligently gave out his
supports to ensure that it was established and with the help of other parents
and today the centre is been named. The centre also has great leaders when
established and to mention but few Bro. Odaah Emeka, Bro. Brendan Chinweuba,
Bro. Ugo, Bro. Obinna, Sis. Odaah Chineye, Sis. Oluchi and Sis. Okonkwo
Onyinyechi.
PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED
The
only problem we encountered was the low turnout of children and grown ups and
not coming on time for prayers. But I assure you that the problems have been solved.
ACHIEVEMENT:
The
centre has been able to bring more souls together in fellowship of which the
leaders went house to house canvassing to parents the need to bring their
children for prayer which helps the family in progressing as written in the
bible that parents should bring up their children in the way of God and when
they grow up, they grow with it (Proverb 22:6). We have also been able to
procure gas lantern, (five) benches and rechargeable lantern.
NEEDS:
The
centre needs more souls that is to say that parents should release their
children for evening prayers which is (Block Rosary prayers) and on time. The
centre needs seats and tables. Also musical instrument, alter table, alter
dress etc.
IN CONCLUSION:
I
am indebted to God Almighty for his love for mankind, our Parish Priest and
chaplain for granting us this inauguration/anniversary and to carry out this
function. Also, thank you my brothers and sisters for making yourselves
available for God’s work through our mother Mary. To our patrons, patronesses,
sponsors and well wishers we say big (THANK YOU)
Signed
