DATA MANIPULATION AND INFORMATION PROCESSING

1.      High speed:  Computers are extremely very fast in processing data. It  has the ability to process data quickly at such rate that can be compared with the speed at which light travels. This enables processing to be accomplished in billionths of seconds computer is very suitable for processing data that are voluminous, lengthy and complex in a very short time

2.      Accuracy:  The level of correctness of processing data in computer is very high   according to instruction given to it. They provide accurate results in situations that acquire precise and reliable processing of data. The accuracy of computers is determined by the instruction given to it and data supplied by  the  user .
3.      Reliability: Computer can be depended upon for efficient result(s). It cannot make mistake in the production of result over a long period of time. It is very reliable if of course appropriate maintenance to put in place and accurate data  is supplied to it. Provided that the system is not damaged or that it did not  contact any virus,   computer is  very consistent  to  produce  accurate and  reliable  results.
4.      Storage and retrieval of data:  large  amount of information can  be  kept  in the memory of a computer in a manageable   form. These same stored information   can be accessed if the need arises provided   the information   is correctly stored in the computer memory. The  same data can be made available to users in the memory that computer has.
5.      Transfer of data :  a computer can  provide data for  other  computers for use. This can be achieved when two or more computers are interconnected to share  both data information  through what is called computer  net-work.
6.      Modification of data:  it is possible  to change data stored on a computer. A typical example appose to word processing where you may change,  edit or add to a document  before or after it has been printed without having to retype the whole document. Modification ability gives computer is a very unique difference form other processing machine.
7.      Data analysis: after entering data into a computer you may need summaries and breakdown of this information expressed in any way you may wish.  A typical example is a database that you may analyze the  same  data on a particular request  or within  a specified period.
8.      Versatility: Computers can be used to manipulate all manner of information and very useful in all l fields of human endeavours. Astronomical, aeronautics, industrial simulation, analysis of mathematical models and other complex studies can be easily carried out with  the help of computers
