WHAT IS THE MEANING OF POOR ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE


            The term poor academic performance has no one acceptable definition based on the broad nature of it.   According to Okoye (1982)  poor  academic performance in individuals or candidates in a learning  situation refers to one who fails to attain a set   standard performance in a given evaluation  exercise such as  test,  examination  or series of continuous assessment.
This means that the standard could be based on a number of stipulated subjects and other school activities. A  candidate who scores less or below a given standard in regarded as performing
  poor academically.
In  general, the term poor academic   performance is  a familiar phenomena and  a social problem which is common among students whose  parents are not well balanced to provide  the materials needed  to achieve good education
