THE EXISTING SYSTEM
Information dissemination presently in most online
supermarkets is done manually and is highly inadequate. There are no close
communication between customers and site owners. In years back, it takes two to
three days before a confirmation will be sent to a customer in response to a
form filled or an order placed. This is quit lugubrious and time consuming.
There is no automated means of disseminating information to customers nor is
there a means of following up with customers to keep them updated on the latest
information about your product. Life broadcast and newspaper adverts are means of
trying to communicate with customers about new products in time past and even
at present. They are good but cannot be compared with direct
communication with
the customer.
3.2 THE APPROACH TAKEN
In order to obtain a logical understanding of
complexities of the information network in automatic email system, field
studies are essential means (yin, 1989; orlikowski, 1993). This paper is based
on data collection in an empirical study of an automated email system. The
study focused on role, competence and communication structures of an auto
responder.
First phase of study of the information system and
the data analysis is based on qualitative interview, Questionnaire and observation.
3.3
METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION.
There
are four major techniques that I embarked on the verge of gathering information
for my research. They are:
(A)
Questionnaire. I
administered the question around presco and some parts of Abakpa main market in
abakaliki here with the aim of reaching a large number of people looking at my
scope which is to cover parts of Nigeria. The question is structured in the
sense that the responder will answer without asking others. Bellow is the
summary of the question that I administered.

From the report above, it is seen that greater percentages of the
responders strongly adopt the idea of using an auto responder in online
marketing.
(B)
Interview. In this study, I carried out an interview to clarify
and verify certain unclear areas in this seminar and to also get other people’s
opinion on the seminar. Most the areas that I looked into are if it actually
causes any havoc and the level of its competence in our economy. And from the
report so far, it can only cause havoc to the website owner if not handled
properly and to our economic growth, since everything is becoming computerised,
it’s of great help to our industry to automate email system where one will be
sleeping and get the computer do the marketing for you.

Observation. It is
useful when the subject cannot provide information or can only provide
inaccurate information like people addicted to drugs. But at the same time, in
observation the researcher does not get any insight into what people may be
thinking. On this work I critically
observed most selling online supermarkets like Ebay, alibaba, shoprrite and
some other mushroom shops in the internet. I discovered from the investigation
that there is a lot of traffic that do come into these top selling online
supermarkets compared to others and when I asked myself why I ventured into
another research and found out that they use a well structured automated system
like auto-responder. These make people build their confidence on them and too
because of their unbeatable price.
