Female
flies deposits their eggs on decayed, fermenting or rotten organic materials of
either animal or vegetable origin. Unlike blow flies and flit flies, house flies,
rarely breeds in meat or carrion.

DUNG
Heaps of accumulated animal feces are
among the most important breeding sites house flies. The suitability of dung’s
for breeding depends on it moisture (not too wet), texture (not to solid) and
freshness (normally within a week after deposition).

GARBAGE AND WASTE
FROM FOOD PROCESS
Garbage
provides the main medium for breeding. It include waste associated with the
preparation
, cooking and serving of food at home and in public places, and with
the handling, storage and sale of food ,including fruits and vegetables, in
market.

ORGANIC MANURE
Field
that is heavily manured with organic matters such as dung, excrement, garbage
and fishmeal may provide suitable breeding sites for flies.

SEWAGE
House
flies also breed in sewage sludge and solid organic waste in open drains,
cesspools (under ground pool for house hold sewage) and cesspits.

ACCUMMULATED
PLANT MATERIALS
Piles of
decaying grass clippings, compost heaps and other accumulations of rotten
vegetable matter serve as good breeding places for flies.
