SURVEY
OF AQUATIC PLANTS (MACROPHYTES)
Aquatic
macrophytes are vascular plants whose photosynthetic parts are permanently or
at least for several months of the year are submerged in water or float on the
surface of water. Aquatic macrophtyes
that grow unabatedly causing harm to aquatic environment directly or to related
eco environment relatively,
are called aquatic weeds.
Invasive
aquatic plants are those that displace native aquatic vegetation and become
established. Invasive aquatic weeds are threatening the ecological,
sociological, cultural and economic well being of the local people residing on
those areas.
