MORPHOLOGY
Habit:
It is a shrubby tree which branches are very low with wild
spreading arms. It is
widely cultivated in gardens in plantations for its edible fruits and nuts the
leaf is between 8 and 12cm long and 5-7cm broad flowers are small and whitish
in colour and at first are hidden by the large bracts and shaped. It consists
of enlarged receptacle and the stalk of a grey kidney shaped body. It is
greenish yellow when ripe and about 7.5cm long. At times, it is red when ripe.
(b) UTILIZATION
The infusion of the bark and the leaves is used to
relieve toothache. And sore gum. The nut contain within their pericarps, a dark
coloured oily juice which is corrosive and therefore causes blisters to the
skin. It is used fotattooing or for placing on a curious tooth to make it to
fall out. The fruit is a good source of vitamin C and remedy for scurvy and
also induces the section of urine.
(d) CONSERVATION
It is a shrubby tree which is cultivated in
gardens and plantations.
It is a herbaceous plant cultivated in very cool and
wet land. It is also cultivated for its economic value.
