HOW SHORTAGE OF QUALIFIED TEACHERS CAUSES STUDENTS BAD PERFORMANCE

This also added a lot to the cause of students poor performance n (SSCE), this is applicable in our school system, due to the fact that most of teaches are unqualified.

Agbanusi (1987), enunciated that “the problem of staffing has led to the stock utilization of the technological equipment”. He went ahead to explain that teacher’s are lack the skills to handle vocational subjects with the results, that they were recruited, to handle subjects they did not
learn. These teachers resort to memorization and role learning method, where students meant to copy text books, and memory instead of using practical method of teaching.

Despite this, these teachers could not operate the equipment sent to some of the schools, due to the fact that they lack skills and knowledge. The result is student’s poor performance in (SSCE). Hence there should be no positive expectation that students will perform well in subjects where their teachers are not properly rooted.
