Nigerian Air Force Day Celebration 2017 | NAF Employment of Air Power for Enduring National Security

The National Daily Newspapers has it on the news that plans are on the way for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) day celebration 2017. According to a press statement, the theme of the event is ''Employment of Air Power for Enduring National Security'' - It will be held from Thursday, April 20 to Saturday, April 22 2017. Similarly, the Nigerian Air Force is set to officially induct its two (2) newly acquired Mi-35Ms fighter helicopters as seen here.

NAF News was reported that the helicopters will be inducted on Saturday, April 22 at the closing ceremony of the NAF day celebration 2017, which will be held at the NAF base in Makurdi, Benue state. The multirole Mi-35M attack helicopter is a comprehensive modernisation of the Mi-24V developed in Moscow, Russia and has been produced in series since the year two thousand and five.

The helicopters are not new to the NAF, as they already posses the P variant of the Russian-built helicopters. A typical Mi-35M attack helicopters. Keep in mind that Chuks Okebata, the Nigerian US soldier who was killed during Yuletide has been buried. While addressing journalists at the NAF headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, April 18, the chairman organising committee of the event, Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao said there will also be aerial and static display.

In his direct words: "The series of activities slated to mark the celebration include medical outreach, air weapons meet, gala night, ceremonial parade and winging of new pilots. Others are presentation of colours to Special Operations Command, induction of newly acquired Mi-35M attack helicopters as well as aerial and static display." Free Medical outreach programme will be conducted throughout the period of the celebration for people living within the immediate host communities around NAF bases.

Other events scheduled for the two-day celebration includes the air weapons meet and gala night to be held on Friday, April 21 while the ceremonial parade and incorporating the presentation of colours will be held on Saturday, April 22 2017.

Isiaka Oladayo Amao (Air Marshal) also used the opportunity to invite all well-meaning Nigerians to the event. The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar is not relenting in his mantra to change the face of the Nigerian Air Force. 

The Nigerian Air Force has been consistent in its professionalism especially in its operations in Nigeria's troubled North-east region, due to the activities of insurgents.
