NAF Starts Cancer Screening Centre at Nigerian Air Force Base, Maiduguri Borno State
Today April 20, 2017, the National Security Adviser, Maj Gen Mohammed Mongunu commissioned the first cancer screening centre in Borno State at the 105 Composite Group Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base, Maiduguri, Borno State.
While Speaking to the Nigeria Airforce men during the occasion, the NSA decorated the NAF leadership for its contributions towards the global effort at reducing the encumbrances of cancers in the country.
According to him, he said in his own words, “It is heartwarming and reassuring to see the NAF taking the lead in the campaign against these frightening diseases in Nigeria”.
The Deputy Governor of Borno State, Alhaji Usman Mamman Durkwa in his remarks, thanked the NAF for chosen to build the cancer screening centre in Maiduguri noting that the initiative would help to alleviate the health challenges associated to cancer illness in Borno State.
The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar earlier in his remarks, disclosed that the centre would be of services to both the military and civilian populace in Borno State.
While he spoke further, the Chief of Air Staff said that the state of the art facilities in the centre would go a long way in helping to detect cancers at early stage and offer necessary treatment when cure is more likely to be successful in order to save life every cancer patient in the country.
