EFFECT OF STORAGE METHODS AND DURATION ON BOVAN BROWN EGGS AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF PRODUCTION

ABSTRACT
This experiment was designed to study the effect of storage method (room temperature air tight box and refrigerator) and duration of storage (7,14,21 and 28 day) on Bovan brown egg at different stages of production (30,52 & 72 weeks) .The result of this study shows that refrigerated eggs has better Haugh unit when compared with eggs stored at room temperature and air tight box. The increase in time of storage regardless of the temperature caused loss in the internal qualities of the eggs. The result also show that age of the birds has influence in all the parameters evaluated except shell thickness and yolk width.
