Web
2.0:
The World Wide Web was initially established
as a place to store information that others could then access. This period in
the evolution to the web is now commonly referred to as web 1.0 or the “read
only web”
More
recently, a second – generation web emerged (web 2.0) this describes the web as
we know it today: a place where user can contribute to content and interact with
others. The potential for sharing and communicating in real time of this ‘read
– write’ web makes it ideal for early childhood services. (Ministry of Education
2013).
Skype: According to Telylabs (2013)
Skype is for doing things together, whenever you’re apart. Skype’s text, voice
and video makes it simple to share experience with the people that matter to
you, wherever they are.
With
skype, you can share a story, celebrate a birthday, learn a language, hold a
meeting, work with colleagues, just anything you need to do together every day.
You can use skype on whatever works best for you, on your phone or computer on
a television with skype on it. (skype communication 2013).
Online
games: child
experts and educations design interactive online games for kids. Learning games
helps to build skills needed for success in school. While playing educational games,
kids learn to read with phonics, build skills in math language, social studies,
science and much more. Educational videos encourage children to keep learning,
even after school hours.
Examples of games for 3 – 5 years are as
follows:- wide animal game, colour by letter, phonic match, Learn to count, pop
a balloon etc. (cookie 2013).
Digital
Camera:- A
digital camera can be an invaluable tool in the early child hood classroom. It
can be used as a tool in organizing the classroom, for projects and in
documenting children’s learning experiences. For instance photos of children
can be used for labeling cubbies, job charts, daily schedules and for various
art projects. (Eldredge 2010).
Whiteboard:
An
interactive is a touch – sensitive projection screen that allows you to control
the computer directly by touching the board rather than using a key board or
mouse.
1pods – are device that
can store and play all kind of information, not just music, they can even be
used as an external hard dives. 1pods is an audio material when used with
speakers will produce sounds.
Projector:-
using
a computer and projector combo in the class room will revolutionize the way you
teach and the way you children learn. Using these tools in your class room
daily will take both you and your children to whole new level of teaching and
learning you never though possible.
Power
point and photo story:- In power point, text, graphics, movies, music and
other objects are inserted on individual pages or “slides” you can make a power
point presentation for any topic and customize it with text, graphics and music
to engage the audience. Power point is particularly helpful when used in class
room as it can “hook” the learner and leaning more fun. (Pre-K pages 2000 -2013)
Television:
To
make adequate use of mass media for children education, must recognize that the
medium is the message, that the conveyer is the content. The medium itself changes
behaviour, learning and growth patterns of the child. Example, television
itself teaches a special king of visual awareness and enhance the ability to
relate non-immediate mediated experience to life experience.
