Since
2009, there has been a rapid growth of terrorist activities in Nigeria. This
however, has grouped Nigeria as one of the highest terrorist states in the
globe ranging from the Boko Haram insurgence in Maidugure, Borno State to Umar
Farouk Abulmatallab’s suicide bombing attempt on first December, 2009 and the
most recent case of Michael Adebalojo and his brother, Mujaheed who killed an
English soldier in Woolwich London on a broad-day-light. This research seeks to
examine the legal and social implications of suicide bombing and terrorism in
Nigeria however, the research still looks at the following (1) the evolution of
terrorism and suicide bombing (2) the causes of suicide bombing and terrorism
(3) X-ray both national and international statutes and treaties (if any) on
suicide bombing and terrorism.
