Specific
Objective
-
It will generate
incomes to the government
-
Create jobs,
-
Bring investors
to the state
- These employees will pay tax to the
government
Creating wealth and income
1.
Entertainment
(tourism) is the world’s largest industry and creator of jobs a cross natural
and regional economies ,from our research show that in 2015, entertainment
tourism will generate, directly and indirectly, 12.7% of GDP and nearly 5
million jobs in the state-wide economy. These figures are forecasted to total
12.7% and 8 millions Ebonyians respectively in 2015.
2.
Jobs generated by
entertainment tourism are spread across the economy in retail, contraction,
manufacturing and telecommunication as well as directly in music and movie
tourism companies. These jobs employ a large proportion of men and women
minorities and young people; are predominantly in small and medium sized
companies, and offer good training and transferability. Entertainment tourism
can also be one of the most effective drivers for the development of state
economy these patterns apply to both developed and emerging economics.
Contribution to sustainable development
3.
The 1980s Ebonyi
State has been economically sustain under the mineral resource of cool and min
from Enugu, the RID earth summit, identified entertainment tourism as one the sectors
of the economy which could make positive contributions to achieving sustainable
development in Ebonyi state as non-oil producing state earth summit lead to the
adoption of agenda 21 a comprehensive programme of action adopted by the
federal government for Ebonyi to provide a blue print for achieving sustainable
development in entertainment tourism. School of entertainment, is the
first industry sector to have launched an industry-specific action plan
based on agenda 21.
4.
Entertainment tourism
is able to contribute to development which is economically, ecologically and
socially sustainable because it
·
Has less impact
on natural researches and the environment than most other industries.
·
Is based on creativity
of information and appreciation of local culture that built heritage and
natural environment, as such that the industry has a direct and powerful
motivation to protect these assets.
·
Can play a
positive part in increasing consumer commitment to sustainable development
principles through its unparallel consumer distribution channels and
·
Provides an
economic incentive to conserve natural environment and habitats which might
otherwise be allocated to more environmentally damaging land uses, thereby,
helping to maintain bio-diversity.
·
Providing
infrastructure
5.
To a greater
degree the entertainment tourism depends on a wide
range of infrastructure services, air navigation (RD/TV station) roads, film
making, journalism and recreation facilities (e.g telecommunications and
utility.
6.
It is the
combination of entertainment school, portable transmission authorities, and
good infrastructure that underpins the economic, environment and social
benefits it is important to balance any
decision to develop an area for tourism against need to preserve fragile or
threatened environments and cultures. However, once a decision has been taken
where an area is appropriate for new tourism development or that an existing tourist
site should be developed further, then good infrastructure will be essential to
sustain the quality, economic viability and growth of entertainment school.
Good infrastructures will also be a key factor in the industry’s ability to
manage visitor flows in ways that do not affect the natural or built heritages
nor counteract against local interest.
Challenge
for the future
Entertainment
tourism creates jobs and wealth and has tremendous potential to contribute to
economically, environmentally and socially sustainable development in both developed
countries and emerging state like Ebonyi State. It has a comparative advantage
in that its start up and running costs can be low compared to many other forms
of industry development. It is also often one of the few realistic options for
development in many areas. Therefore, there is a strong likelihood that the
entertainment industry will continue grow globally over the short to medium
term.
9. Of
course, if entertainment is managed badly, it can have a detrimental effect it
can damaged fragile environment and destroy local cultures. The challenge is to
manage the future growth of the industry so as to minimize its negative impacts
on the environment and host communities whilst maximizing the benefit it brings
in terms of jobs, wealth and support for local culture and industry, and
protection of the built and nature environment.
10. Partnerships and agents for change
The
public sectors, particularly national and local government, have an important
role to play by setting the agenda and providing the framework in which action
should take place. The regulatory environment also plays an important role in
creating the conditions suitable for sustainable entertainment tourism
self-regulation involving the agreement and co-operation of industry is always likely
to be the most effective solution, therefore, the role of trade associations
and industry organizations in distributing information among their members and
encouraging participation is essential
· The major partnerships to be formed are between.
· Industry and the public sector- to ensure consistency
within the framework
· Industry and the voluntary sector-to tap into the
enormous resources on expertise and good will that, this sector is able to
generate and
· Industry and the public both consumers themselves and
the people who live in the places they visit to develop more sustainable forms
of entertainment tourism.
Areas for
further action
3. The industry will do much to improve its
performance in terms of sustainable development the challenge for the new
millennium is to move from the existing ad-hoc approach to a more systematic
one. To do this will involve a partnership between industry and local
government to deliver the following
i. Governments
·Integration of trainees policy into broader government
policies, especially the environment.
·Incentives for the trainees and entertainment tourism
industry, backed up where necessary by effective regulation.
ii. public/private partnership
· Infrastructure planed and developed with long-term and
within a reference framework based on agenda 21,
· Investors and consumers impact assessment tools to
enable effective local government management and appropriate development.
iii. Inter-state bodies
·Co-ordination at an inter-state level of co-operation
action undertaken by all sectors on the entertainment school place sustainable
development
·Review of existing voluntary initiatives to improve
the quality of reporting, their transparency and credibility, and the
assessment of their contribution to sustainability..
iv. Companies
· Commitment to place sustainable development issues at
the core of the management structure,
· Innovation of process and application through new
technology,
· Commitment to training and technical training of
staff.
(c) Influencing consumer behaviour to promote
entertainment village
Problems
3i. At
the 1998 world tourism market, Wim hosted, as a part of its entertainment
awareness day a seminar entitled “does the entrainment grow? At this event,
Mori presented the latest findings from
their business and the environment survey an annual uk survey devoted to public
attitudes to the entertainment. The survey is now in its tenth year and
illustrates the challenges facing the entertainment industry in influencing
consumer behavior to promote sustainable entertainment.
3. There
is down ward trend in the public willingness
to pay extra for entertainment mostly movie/ music protection and consumption,
awareness to companions making film commitments is only margin up. Therefore,
the challenge is to persuade the quality production that is in their interest
to adopt and promote a sustainable approach in their activities and purchasing
decisions. Education programs and the development and widespread acceptances of
code of conduct are useful tools in achieve this step once this message has
been conveyed, it is the important to back this up with the necessary
information to enable consumers to make informed choice. It is here that
ecotourism and movies programs have value
Solutions
Tourism
programs
3. The
formation for tourism education in Ebonyi (FTEE) seeks to promote music/movies,
journalism by carrying out campaign and improving awareness of importance of
entertainment tourism. It is composed of a network of national tourism
organizations. In which the entertainment village will attract the headquarters
in Ebonyi State.
“Package like
Ebonyi Globe” is based on a
advertisement character, who features in 65 entertainment tourism strategies,
inducing travels and tourism the videos are aimed at music/movie production to
create fun, whilst conveying important messages about sustainable entertainment
tourism. The aim is to have these videos shown on in-flight and in-room
television channels to raise awareness and influence consumer behaviour the
essential criteria in three separate areas:
-
quality
production
-
expertise
management and safety and tourism information and education program codes of
conduct.
3. code of
conduct are also used to try and influence both consumer and management
behaviour, for example, “guideline for responsible entertainment tourism this
codes can be prepared and distributed by government on Ebonyi state to satisfy
a number of essentials quality production and behaviour among the categories on
participants.
4. The
Ebonyi entertainment tourism, association is an association which promote the
Ebonyi tourism destination products and services EETA is also serve as a central resource of information
research, travel industry education and training which create jobs opportunity
to host tourist in Ebonyi state.
Music/movie
department
The essential criteria in enrolling trainee is as
follows
Waec (west African examination council)
5 credits, includes credit in English
Agents and
partnerships for change
· Ngos to raise awareness of music/movies issues in
their work and activities and provide feedback to the industry;
· Entertainment tourism to communicate their needs and
requirements,
· Local authorities (LGAs) to engage local people
through the inclusion of entertainment tourism issues in local trade
associations, labour representative organizations and training provides to
increase awareness and training on staff in entertainment and social issues.
To Regulations
Whose responsibility is to ensure that trainees are
protected through the creation of competition in the school the reluctance by
trainee to change reform properly frustrates the introduction of competition by
the trainee.
·
Music and movie required journalist to raise the
profile of reporting entertainment and social impact of music ,movie (entertainment village) among consumer and
tourism business, and
·
The internet as a
source of information for potential tourist.
Areas for
further action
2. The
management /trainee data shows the scale of the task still remaining. The industry
will develop a number of initiatives to influence trainees behaviour, however trainees
do not understand or are not aware of the issues invoked and do not demand more
sustainable programs than, in the long term, it will not be the industry’s
interests to move in that direction. The priority future action therefore,
should be to raise awareness among trainees of the issues associated with
entertainment tourism and the impact their activities can have on local
destination and cultures, promoting entertainment industry sustainable
development through music/movie production while safeguarding the integrity of
local government cultures and protection.
Problems
3. The
music/movie industry has a rested interest in protecting the consumers and
cultural resources that are the core of its business music/movie has less
impacts on cost of production and the entertainment tourism than other sectors
and it has already done much, to address the issues arising from its
activities.
There are example, however, from around the country
where the impact of music/movie has been damaging to the local entertainment
and people. Some of the factors which contributes to the harmful impact of
entertainment truism are:
·
A lack of
awareness on the part of those coming up artiste, about music/movie as a
tourism development of the social, economic and environment balance to be
pursued in achieving sustainable development.
·
A lack of
commitment by government and tourism operators to contribute to the maintenance
of the local environment and culture of the host destination.
·
A weak
institutional framework with inadequate controls can lead fall of to
music/movie development which is both in appropriate and intrusive.
·
Unfairly traded
music/movie, whereby local communities are unable to shave its benefits,
Solutions
In order for entertainment to realize its potential to
achieve broad based sustainable development in effective partnership between
government and all sectors of the industry will be required.
The
following illustrates what is being done
by the
State
governments
The Ebonyi state government is pump priming local
equipment activities, which are primarily driven local people. The government
is to kick starting entertainment village development for entertainment tourism
lodges in the rural region invoking the whole communities, in Ebonyi State,
this strategy is closely integrated with the goals of the industry.

all time to come. Sound in entertainment is a universe in its own self,
starting from dialogues to sound effects, songs, music and background scores.
One can spend a lifetime and still stand at the shore of the vast ocean of the
sound and music recoding industry.
The
advent of talkie films created a big revolution in the history of
entertainment. But even during the silent era. Film makers made arrangements
for live orchestra at cinema houses and auditoriums that synchronized their
composition and scores with the dram and the theme /pace of the visuals on the
screen. Sound help of visuals. The radio and music industry are the biggest
which can entertain its patrons without the help of visuals and are enough to
enthrall its audience into raptures.
Nigeria
is known to be the biggest producer of motion pictures in the world. The
biggest USP of Nigeria films that sets it apart from world cinema is the
inclusion of song and dance sequences in them. Despite a weak content several
films have done stupendous business, solely on the strength of its music. Music
sale is a major avenue of income for film producers and the sale of Audio
rights is a major revenue earner. The audio companies also actively participate
in the promotional and marketing strategies of these films.
Globally,
the entertainment industry is growing by leaps and bounds and is no exception
to it. Besides films, the television scene is cluttered with a plethora of
channels. Gone are the days when we had to suffice with one national channel.
Now we have a host of private channels at our disposal. Just with a flick of
the remote. Specialization is the rule of the day, and we see the emergence of
niche channels catering to specific needs, but one common element that is
omnipresent in all is sound. In fact, the nuclear families of today keep the TV
sets on for hours so that its sound keeps young children company, and the
housewives can go about doing their daily chores.
Since
the advert of FM channels, more and more people are now listening and enjoying
the radio. movie and music is the best
and the cheapest available means of entertainment for the common man. from rich
to the poorest of the poor everybody can be seen hooked on to some movie and
music on TV as they cannot resist the temptation of listening, watching movie or what is on air. Stage shows and live
outdoor events are now held on a very large scale which are attended by people
in large numbers to feed so many breaches of this growing entertainment
industry. Expert personnel are needed to handle the audio. This is taken care
by the person called the sound engineer or recording engineer, more commonly
known as the sound recordist. This person is responsible to provide clear sound
by this engineering to the audience.
The
huge demand for the technically expert personnel in the filed of sound has made
this professional very lucrative. A good sound engineer can earn from a low of #20.000/
to over . 30 per month. All the big names in the field are presently earning
between #1.5 to 2.5 mil a month. Even the new entreats and the trainees can
expect to earn about 7,000/ to 10,000/ p.m in the beginning which can touch
20,000 to 25,000/ per month within a period of 2 to 3 month depending upon the
person’s of 2 to 3 month dedication, hard work, ability to grasp the
intricacies of the subject and the creative acumen. The success also depends
upon the personal motivation technical knowledge and understanding the
aesthetics of sound. It is not a natural gift, but it can be developed provided
the person keeps his ears open and starts analyzing natural sounds around him.
The people who have a true passion for sound and music become great sound
engineers in due course of time.
According
to his aptitude or liking, a person can mould or fit himself in various
branches of sound recording and engineering.

Founder of Soda faces Academy is the guest lecturer at
Soda faces Academy, the film school 1s to conduct a small workshop for the
students of the academy and give them tips on direction, spicing them up with
lectures own life experiences and anecdote.
He
shall specifically speak about his first directorial venture into film industry
and the hurdles he faced as the first-time director and founder. He should add
that an actor lives only one life in a film, while director’s personality is
added to the film as two directors working on the same stories would yet treat
it differently.
The
other interesting tip is that students are to observe and depict on screen,
what they see around them.
Film
making is a social responsibility and the medium has the power to mould public
opinion, mores and ethos, and that the directors should not misuse this power.
First films are usually great because pent up emotions find their way in them
but the real challenge comes in the second film, when the same commitment and
vigor has to be maintained.
I
think that directors who disconnect with the
present fade away. He’s kept up with the times and enjoyed every moment
of it, which has made him equally proficient in the world of television. With
an open mind, he could easily transit from the wide vistas of the big screen to
the world of close-ups, i.e. the television.
