LITERATURE REVIEW OF 6-3-3-4 SYSTEM AS ENCOUNTERED BY HEADS OF SECONDARY SCHOOLS




Review of literature related to the study is presented under the following major sub-heading:-
·        Conceptual/ theoretical framework
·        Review of empirical studies
·        Summary of literature review



The review of literature was conducted under conceptual, theoretical and empirical framework. Under the conceptual framework, the concept of educational planning and implementation evolution of 6-3-3-4 system of education were discussed.


This review shows that educational planning and implementation involves the application of national analysis to the process of educational development and it’s execution order to make education more effective and efficient in responding to the need and goals of students and the country.

Some theoretical work on the 6-3-3-4 system were also reviewed. These include the teaching and learning materials used in secondary schools and the personnel used in the implementation of the system.

Finally, review of empirical studies carried out the reviewed explored a variety of research findings that covers issues on the aims and goals of 6-3-3-4 system of education. It was apparent that all the studies especially in the area of problem revealed that they were problems with the student investigated, the implementation problems of 6-3-3-4 system encountered by secondary school heads in Onicha Local Government Area.

This area of neglect remains a research gap, making it important for this study to empirically investigate the implantation problem encountered by the heads with a view of identifying implementation problem of 6-3-3-4 system in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State Nigeria.
