and are located at the base of the main axil. The leaves produces a bristle
hair on their surface, the stem of cucumber have vines as a result of this, they
can be trellised to save space and improve yield and fruit quality . It has an
enclosed seeds and developing from flower, botanically speaking cucumber are
classified as fruits.
Why cucumber a
fruit and not a vegetable? Cucumber is a fruit because it has seeds, vegetable
don’t have seeds. It usually contain more than 90% of water. Cucumber appears

of a cucumber, sprinkling some salt and rubbing they now expose end of the said
cucumber with the sliced –off ends until it appears to froth. Cucumber can best
stored sealed in shrink foil, sealing a cucumber increases its shelf life
considerably.(Huang, S; Li, Zhang, Z; Li, L; Gu, x; fan, W; wang x. etal (2009)

Cucumber is aperients and diuretic, its
ability to eliminate water from the makes it an important treatment for heart
and kidney problems. It helps to dissolve uric acid accumulating such kidney
and bladder stones. Consumption of the cucumber fruits is good for chronic
constipation, while the juice is beneficial for the intestines, lungs, kidney
and skin. It may also be applied externally to inflammations, bed sores and

stress. Eating a cucumber while ill encourages the speedy recovery of the
afflicted.
Cucumber seeds are often eaten to promote fertility and the fruits of cucumber however, hinders lust. .(Huang, S; Li, Zhang, Z; Li, L; Gu, x; fan, W; wang x. etal (2009) “The genome of the cucumber, cucumis satvus L. nature Genetics 41 (12): 1275-1281 Dena Harris item number:article 21, have it that trellised cucumber should be planted 2-3 feet apart on a trellis approximately 6 feet high. For ground variety plant at least 18 inches apart. A well drained loamy soil is preferable by cucumber. It is necessary that soil should be fertile and well provided with organic manure, cucumber prefer a PH of 5.5—6.8(Hand book of horticulture, Indian council of Agricultural Research new Dechi 5 july, 2001). The minimum weed-free period (when the farm must be kept weed free to prevent yield losses to weed competition ) in cucumber, squarsh and other cucurbit crops has been estimated as the first 4—6 weeks after planting (Friesen,1978; Noble,2009; Peet,1996; Stall,2009; Ron Morse Horticulture Dept; Virginia Tech, pers. cummun). Therefore critical period of weed interference appear to be between two(2) and four(4) weeks after emergence.
