Discussion of the Finding
     Discussion / interpretation of the finding of the study showed that are various teaching resource available for use by social studies teachers in Abeokuta south LGA of Ogun state. Some of these instructional materials include blackboard, maps / chart, textbook and diagrams. There is no saying the fact that materials are available, although all of them may be available in all the junior secondary schools in the of study. Also it is possible that even the one available may be in very short supply. This in agreement with recent report of African Development Bank (ADB) that the supply of appropriate learning materials particular inadequate in most part of Africa.
       As the result of this study revealed, the reason for the inadequate of social studies teaching resources/ materials is lack of fund to procure the material. A total of 95 respondents expressed this view. This finding agrees with the World Bank (1988) reports that the quality of education in sub-Saharan Africa is well below world standard, a situation the Bank attributed mainly to the low level of finding for educational materials.
  In addition the finding of the study showed that various sources are available to social studies teachers for the procurement of teaching resources. However 95 respondents believed that the good should be the principal sources. This is true because the government being the major stakeholder in the education industry should be the major source for the provision of instructional material. However, the teacher can improvise where a particular material is not available. Moreover, the result of the study shows that the most effective techniques/ method for using instructional material are explanations, questioning and illustrations. In addition to adopting an effective technique/ method, there is the need for the teacher to be efficient. This can come by making the lesson understanding to the students and bringing the attention of the student to the lesson, especially when teacher resources are introduced.
Conclusion of the study
Based on the finding of the study, the researcher concludes as follows;
1 There are various teaching resources the social studies teachers have in teaching and learning of social studies in Abeokuta south L G A of Ogun state.
2 The effectiveness of the teacher for using instructional material depends on how effectively he is able to explain it to the student.
3 The most effective technique for the use of teaching resource the teacher are explanation, questioning and answer and illustration methods.
4 The tow major ways of sourcing instructional materials are from the government and through improvisation by the teacher.
5 Teachers main problem with regard to teaching resources in Abeokuta south LGA of Ogun state is lack of fund for the production of the equipment.
6 The best times for the introduction of teaching resources is either at the beginning or in the middle of a lesson.
Recommendations of the study
Consequent upon the conclusions arrived from the finding of this study, the researcher recommends as follows;
1 The government and school authority should co-operate in the provision of teaching resources for social studies teachers.
2 Teachers should explain instructional materials vary well to the students.
3 Funds should be made available by the government to the school authority or by the school authority to social studies teachers for the purchase of instructional materials.
4 Students should pay attention whenever the teacher is using any material to explain a point during the lesson.
5 Adequate care of instructional material should be taken and students should not steal or spoil the equipment.
Educational implication
Looking at the researcher work, one will find out that the findings have a lot of educational implications. The finding has implication on the output of teacher which will be very low if the problem of effective use of instructional materials is not tacked. Based on the find, the right competence needed by teachers will in turn equip the teachers to educate the students to work towards improving the Nigeria education; the motivation of teachers will serve as incentive and attract young men and women into the profession. This in itself is likely to lead to expansion of existing qualities for teacher’s education. The problem of not using instructional material will dwarf objective of 6334 system of education, if not addressed and tacked.
Limitations
This study is limited by many factors which have contributed in one way or the other to the completion period of this work. One of such problem is finance and lack of adequate literature and sufficient backing material within reach which hinder the comprehensive study that have done in this research work. The result of the study is limited to junior secondary school in Abeokuta south local government area of Ogun state only and as such, many not be applied other area since the factors that limited the work here may not be hold in other area.
Suggestion for further study
The researcher will appreciate it if further study is done in the following areas;
1 An overview of the hindrance to effective utilization of instructional materials.
2 An investigation into the major obstacles to the procumbent of social studies instructional, material.
