Guidance and counseling
which is an educational services appeared to have come on the educational scene
in Nigeria late . it’s usefulness in manpower development, social
and moral adjustment and career prospect has however proclaimed it’s importance
most especially in the choice of future career. Education at all level that
operate without it, is likely to suffer a great set back in terms of social,
economic moral, psychological and education development. ( Al. lannap pg.11)
CHANGES IN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.
With
changes in educational system where here is little or no room for selection
into secondary
schools, children of divers cultural backgrounds believes,
temperaments, interest and abilities are put together.
Expect
there is guidance and counseling to reconcile diver opinions, there will be
chaos in the schools, guidance’s and counseling can help the individual to
develop the ability to make best possible adjunct within his environment so
that he can make his contribution to the school as well as his immediate
society. This can be done through personal counseling which assist student in
solving socio- personal thereby affecting adequate adjustment.
