KEFEE | IRIKEFE DON MOMOH - THE BRANAMA SINGER IS DEAD

Irekefe Don Momoh (nee Obareki) popularly known as Kefee (the Branama Queen) is dead. She died on Friday 13th June 2014 in an undisclosed hospital in U.S.A; according to a private source. The news of the death of the popularly known gospel/entertainment singer has spread like wide fire over the news and other social network.

Her very close friend and popular blogger, Dimoko Stella confirmed her death by posting in her blog; I have been weeping and had always awaited for a quick recovery news about “Kefee” but on the long run, my dearly beloved sister and friend is gone forever.

Steve Onu (aka Yaw), a radio presenter in Wazobia FM and a close friend to the Don Momoh household also gave credence to the news during his daily programme on the radio.


According to news in Nigerian online newspapers and popular blogs like the Vanguard, The Sun, Guardian, Linda Ikeji Blog, Nairaland, Dailypost, Gismenia, etc, it was gathered that Kefee collapsed in an aircraft flight heading to Chicago for a show and had since then been in coma, among other related news/reports that she had regained consciousness and responding to treatment.

Previously, news had it that she (Kefee) died of pregnancy induced high blood pressure (popularly called pre-eclampsia in Medicine/medical fiend. But her music manager (Adelicious Adebayo Adeline) in his statement wrote to the contrary. According to his statement, thus;

“On behalf of the family….It is with a great sadness but grateful hearts that we announce the passing to glory due to lungs failure this morning (Friday) of our God’s mouth piece, chorus leader, daughter, wife, sister, friend, Kefee Branama Queen… May her beautiful, gentle and precious soul rest in perfect peace. Amen!!”

Adebayo further included: “In contrast to all earlier rumours and stories in circulation, I do state that Kefee wasn’t six months pregnant and neither did she have pre-eclampsia.”

The late musician was born to the Obareki family of Sapele Metropolis in Delta State Nigeria and had 1st marriage with a music producer named Alec Godwin, did her service in 2008 after a three year stint having cemented the matrimony in year 2005.
