EFFECT OF CORRUPTION ON NATION - BUILDING

Many have noted the effects of corruption on nation building.  Development scholars observe this effect corruption has an adverse effect on social and economic development and also in building a nation. The role of EFCC in Nigeria is to curb the  menaces of the corruption that constitutes the cog  in the wheel of progress,  protect national and foreign  investment s in the country;  imbue the spirit of hard  work in  the  citizenry  and discourage ill gotten wealth, identity  illegally acquired  wealth  and confiscate it,  build  an  upright workforce in both public and private
sectors of the economic  and;  contribute to  the global war against financial crimes. The commission empowered to prevent, investigate, prosecute and penalize economic and financial crimes is charged with the responsibility of enforcing the provisions of other laws and   regulations relating to economics and financial crimes. While the role of ICPC in Nigeria is to prohibit and prescribe punishment for corrupt practices and other related offences section 6(G-F) of the ICPC Act 2000 sets out the duties of the commission as paraphrased in the given link below.
