THE PURPOSE OF MICRO-TEACHING TECHNIQUES



The essence of the micro-teaching technique is that:
a.       It gives practice in short units of teaching usually of only a few minutes.
b.       It is time saving device for giving practice to a number of students.
c.       It is a device in which  particular techniques can be tried out one at a time.
d.       It helps the student-teacher develop competency in any of the following at a time. 
     
(i)      Planning and organizing teaching
(ii)     Adopting a suitable delivery system in teaching
(iii)   Establishing good relationship or rapport with pupils
(iv)    Practicing questioning techniques  or other means of ensuring pupil participation
(v)     Preparing and using available or improvised materials in teaching
(vi)    Evaluating instruction for the purpose of improvement
(viii) Organizing and maintaining facilities provided to make teaching/learning possible.
