During
the administration of commander Walter feighabor and Dr. Sam. Egwu,
respectively as Governor of Ebonyi state, a medium was solidly held to reach
the Government by consolidated Non-indigenes. Urban forum was a true and
reliable medium of getting in touch with Government.
A sudden abruption of successful
flow and administering of the Non-Governmental organization by the ill health
that strucked the then president of the union Ichie Odili marks the downfall of
Urban Forum.

contrary, federated union started growing at alarming rate.

members and the public in quest to know the reason for such sudden change,
especially in this present administration, speaking with National vision, the
inaugurators of the then Urban forum, now president of Ebonyi federated union
disclosed that the down fall of Urban Forum started when the last
president of
the union Iche Odili found his health state incapacitate in Ebonyi and flew Abroad
for Medication.
According
to the inaugurator, Chief Nastor Obiora, Ejidike, the * organization
aimed at catering for the interest of the members and masses.
*
Fostering
of health and mutual relationship between all residents of the capital city.
*
To
work in conjunction with Ebonyi state Government to develop the capital
territory.
*
To
liaise with and assist Government and its agencies in fostering peace, order
and security within the capital city.
*
To
co-operate and advance the laudable policy of the state Government in
maintaining a clean healthy and sanitary environment in the capital city.
Chief Obiora told National vision that
membership then was open to all town unions with branches operating within
Abakaliki, capital city.
Registration to the union was affordable
as any organization willing to obtain member was expected to pay little sum of
1,000 only.
According to Ejidike, the Urban Forum
during formation was culted Urban conference on 28th of August 1996
when he red and masterminded the take-off of the Forum known as Urban Forum
today.
The Forum and members were enjoined to
abstain from politics. So all that gained membership were thoroughly screen and
accredited as Non-partisans.
Chief Ejidike told National vision that
the members were selected from different ward in the urban city as follows:
Five (5) from each wards of Nine (9)
ward making total of 45 members including the traditionalists.
The president of federated union
revealed that the member states were Enugu, Anambra, Imo, and Abia state.
Speaking with National vision, the
organizer of Urban Forum now the president of federated union, Abakaliki
pointed out the causes of collapse of the union as intrusion of politicians.
According to him, politicians and few
individuals that make up the Urban Forum now abandon the targeted objective,
only to use the Forum as means of reaching Government for self-satisfaction.
He explained the reason for sudden troop
of masses to obtain membership from F.U instead of urban union that was a
reliable source in providing satisfactory services to the people by so called
executive of Urban Forum today.
The president pointed out, the
achievements of F.U since its formation and assumption of office as president.
So far, the union has being able to make
peace with Agbaja Unuhu community of Ebonyi state in the issue of erection of
structure that was generating a lot of misunderstanding between indigenes and
Non-indigenes of the state.
The union has stopped illegal imposition of
levies on traders at Afia Ukwu Akpurata of Nkwegu road that was very
controversial through and with aid of the Local Government chairman, Mr. Mathew
Uguru and many other achievements.

federated union Ebonyi state chapter enjoined the administrators of Urban union
to deviate from self-centered service and work towards transformation and
reformation that was centered by the organization’s aim and objective.
