EFFECTS OF LACK OF EFFECTIVE PLANNING IN SCHOOLS

Planning should be the first function to be performed by any school administrator in Kaduna North Local Government Area in Kaduna state of Nigeria. Okoh (1985:46) declared that planning is the process of working out in advance to broad outline the things needs to be done and the methods for implementing them so as to achieve educational goals and objectives. He further stated that planning does not eliminate the element of risk but that good planning provides a more accurate basis for estimating relative success or failure in more precise terms. During the time when education was under the control of the European missionaries, there was nothing like pre-planning arrangement, possible read justment were made as pupils were poorly going to different classes as a result of lack of proper planning. According to Bello (1981:1) the
school administrators should first perform the function of planning under the administrative processes.

Planning enables the administrator to know how to plan and when to plan at the appropriate time in order to obtain his goals and objectives. An organization ability to achieve success depends on its planning strategies.

Aderounmmu and Ehiametalor (1981:56) declared that planning involves decision making for a future course of action, a decision which must be taken well in advance.
This is a decision which is to be followed accordingly to the preplanned arrangement. According to Knezevich planning is define as  preparing a set of decision for future actions directed at achieving goals by optimal means.
