As reported in the literature review (subsection
3.1.1), the introduction of telecommunication using GSM as a mode has directly
or indirectly impacted on the economy of the people in Nigeria more especially
in rural places. As part of moving industry, telecommunication is expected to
provide employment opportunities for the unemployed graduates and school
leavers. Scotts (2004) reports a research carried out by Gamos ltd on some
characteristics of the use of telephones amongst rural and low income
communities in, some African countries. The study reveals that rural inhabitants
and poor urban user, value phone services but do not use them very often
compared to relatively more affluent
users.
However, this seminar report was able to gather and concluded that GSM which
is one of the modes of telecommunication
aids in improving the economy of Nigeria, time management, creation
of job/ employment opportunities and reduction in crime rate. From the
interview gathered from several sources, I realized that different opinions suggested

MTN, GLOBACOM, AIRATEL, ETISALAT etc. These license operators in Nigeria are
still recruiting workers and it is against this background that this present

well consider its implication for the emerging communication industries
