CHAPTER FOUR: THE PROBLEMS FACED IN RUNNING PUBLIC EDUCATION IN KADUNA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA


4.0 PRESENTATION AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA
4.1 RESEARCH QUESTION
   The questions for this research work are:
1. What are the problems in running education in public institutions?
2. What are likely to be the prospect of running public education?

 To answer this question above, the research asked teachers and headmaster of the selected schools many question. Based on the result and findings collected from the questionnaires, the
researcher now summarized her findings.
4.3 SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS /INTERPRETATION
The group and sampled population that were served with the questionnaires were 94 teachers and 6 headmaster from each of the three3 selected primary schools in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The above revealed that Ninety –four (94%) respondents were both females and males teachers while six 6% were males and two female s headmasters.
The next finding is that, lack of infrastructural facilities like well equipped laboratories and laboratories and libraries classroom, assembling halls, and offices are barriers to public’s education. This claims was revealed in table three when sixty responses representing 60% agreed with the hypothesis. The fact remains that there are no seats in some school s, some lack classroom, chalkboard, and lack of laboratory equipment for the science students.  Male the lesson real practical and interesting and this affect this child’s ability to learn.
The fourth finding as contained on this study is that the absence of guidance and counseling service s in public education can militate against effective learning in schools. In this hypothesis it is clear in the table four when eighty-one (81%) respondent agreed with the hypothesis. It is found that the absence of guidance and counseling services is a factor militating against the smooth running of public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State of Nigeria because pupils made wrong choice of careers as a result of choosing wrong subjects in their early stage, so guidance and counseling was a hindrance to public education.

  From the table above, Ninety-two (92%) agreed their public schools were adequately equipped with enough infrastructural facilities while seven (7%) disagreed and one (1%)could not decide anything on this number .

Form the table above, sixty (60%) respondent positive, thirty five (35%) disagreed while five 5% could not decide the response for the this question.
Table iv : The absence of Guidance and counseling services in public instructions can militate against effective learning.

The above revealed that, out of one hundred respondents who were served with the questionnaire, sixty (60%) agreed, thirty-five (35%) disagreed and five (5%) could not decide on whether the absence of guidance and counseling  service in public institution can militate against effective learning.

The table above revealed that ten (10%) respondent agreed that their schools have equipped laboratory while seventy-five (75%) do not agreed having equipped laboratories for the teaching of sciences and fifteen (15%) could not decide at all.

From the above table, eighty-five(85%) respondents accepted that the running of public education will be beneficial to the immediate environment of their schools, while thirteen (13%) did not agreed and two (2%) did not decide on whether yes or no.

 From the above table, sixteen (16%) respondents revealed that in adequate qualified personnel in their schools militates against effective running of schools, while eighty-four (84%) disagreed the claims.
4.4 SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS
On the basis of the investigation carried out on the prospects and problems of running of public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State of Nigeria. The following findings were made.
1.              That financial inadequacy was a factor militating against the running of public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State of Nigeria.
2.              Those inadequate qualified personnel (academic/non-academic) run the public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State of Nigeria.
3.              That lack of infrastructural facilities such as classrooms, assembling halls, offices and science equipments are barriers to public education in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State of Nigeria.
4.              That the absence of guidance and counseling services in public education can militate against effectives learning in schools in Kaduna North Local Government Area of Kaduna State of Nigeria.
