The National Examination council is an exams body responsible in administering  the Senior School Certificates Examinations as well as the General Certificate in Education. These exams usually take place between the period of June/July and December/January usually after WAEC examinations.

NECO Historical Perspective 

National Examination council (NECO) came on board during the administration of Adulsalami Abubakar the then head of state of Nigeria in 1999. NECO was created with the sole motive to offer subsidized registration of exams to candidates in Nigeria. This body came on board and took over the responsibilities of the then National Board of Education Measurement (NBEM).  The first Exams conducted by Neco took place in the year two thousand.

Please be informed that as at the time of writing this post, The National Examination Council (NECO) has not started / commencement of the sales of application form from the 2017/2018 Senior School Certificate Examination for External Candidates.

It true that the form is not yet out for sale; however, we find it necessary to educate the populace with the NECO GCE registration instructions and guidelines so that once the form is out, they will be able to do it. Don’t miss any steps below we will explain below because it will go a long way to help you with this NECO registration and examination proper.

It is believed that you are aware that the Senior School Certificate Examination (external) is majorly for private candidates not in the School system. If you don't previously know this, you better continue reading to find out more news and information.

How to Register for NECO 2017/2018 Session.

The 2017/2018 NECO registration forms ill be on sale soonest but before you go ahead with your registration for the NECO exam, you as a candidate is advised to note that the National Examination council (NECO) which only an exam’s body will not refund the registration fee when once paid. This is to say that there is no refund of funds after payment is completed. Notwithstanding, all candidates are advised to use a good cyber cafés or an accredited NECO center because any registration errors is detrimental to the candidates involved in mistakes.

Our society is growing speedily due to technology and with the emergence of an e-society, NECO has since moved from offline / analog registration system of pen and paper to online registration. To register, candidates are to visit the NECO website at www.mynecoexams.com and complete the registration process. Recent passport of the candidate will be required during the registration process. During the registration process, biometric fingerprint will be captured for authentication purposes. Any candidate without a verified finger print will not be  allowed to take part in the NECO examination.

NECO Registration 2017/2018 is done with an unrefundble fee of 12,000 (Both internal & External) 
To register for NECO examination, candidates are to obtain a draft and pay a non-refundable fee of Twelve Thousand Naira Only (N12,000) paid through a bank draft or to school management if internal registration. The payment can be done in any NECO office, banks and 'NIPOST' offices nationwide. Note that the registration fee covers the following:

  1. A CD on exams ethnics
  2. Cost for biometric data and capture
  3. As well as the administrative charges
